Ricardo M. Bonnor, MD, FACS
Meet Dr. Bonnor

Certified by two boards

Ricardo M. Bonnor, MD, FACS is a double board-certified cosmetic and bariatric surgeon — certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He has practised in Houston for over twenty years and has performed more than 10,000 procedures across both specialties. That is why weight-loss surgery and the contouring that follows can be planned as one course of treatment rather than two.

Cosmetic surgery

Body, breast and contour

Liposuction and lifts across the body, breast surgery from augmentation through exchange and lift, and the larger procedures that follow major weight loss — a fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty, a 360 body lift. All of them performed by Dr. Bonnor himself.

Liposuction

Targeted fat removal to refine contour where diet and training plateau.

Neck Liposuction

Definition returned to the jawline and beneath the chin.

Arm Liposuction

Fat taken from the upper arm, without the scar a full lift leaves.

360 Liposuction

Waist, flank and back contoured circumferentially in one procedure.

Tummy Tuck

Abdominoplasty for abdominal contour, with repair of separated muscle.

Fleur de Lis Tummy Tuck

A vertical excision added where laxity runs across the width of the abdomen, common after major weight loss.

Mommy Makeover

Breast and abdomen addressed together, in one recovery period.

Breast Augmentation

Implant selection and placement planned around your frame and the result you want.

Breast Implant Exchange

Existing implants replaced or removed, with a lift if the tissue now needs one.

Breast Lift

The breast raised and reshaped without adding volume.

Arm Lift

Brachioplasty for the skin that remains along the upper arm after significant weight loss.

Upper Back Lift

Rolls across the bra line removed and the contour smoothed.

360 Body Lift

A circumferential lift of the trunk: abdomen, flank, back and buttock in one operation.

Thigh Lift

Inner or outer thigh reshaped where the skin no longer retracts.

Brazilian Butt Lift

Fat taken from where it is unwanted and placed where it adds shape.

Bariatric surgery

Weight loss, and everything after

Primary surgery for patients starting out, and revision for those whose first operation did not hold. For anyone who is not a surgical candidate, a medically supervised GLP-1 programme runs in the same practice with the same follow-up. And because the surgeon who operates is also the one who does the contouring afterwards, the skin is accounted for at the first consultation rather than discovered a year later.

Sleeve Gastrectomy

The most requested weight-loss operation: the stomach reduced to a narrow sleeve, laparoscopically.

Gastric Bypass

Stomach and small intestine rerouted — the answer for a higher BMI, or for reflux a sleeve would worsen.

SADI

A single-anastomosis duodenal switch, for substantial loss or where a sleeve has stalled.

Lap Band Removal

The band taken out, with or without conversion to another procedure in the same operation.

Lap Band to Sleeve

Conversion for patients whose band has slipped, eroded or simply stopped working.

Lap Band to Bypass

Conversion where reflux or weight regain makes a bypass the better answer.

Revision Sleeve or Re-Sleeve

A stretched sleeve reduced again, where the anatomy allows it.

Sleeve to SADI

An intestinal component added to a sleeve that has stalled.

Sleeve to Bypass

Conversion for reflux or regain in the years after a sleeve.

Gastric Bypass Revision

Correcting a bypass that has stretched or is no longer holding the weight off.

One surgeon

The whole journey

01

Weight loss

The operation chosen around your medical history and your starting point, not from a menu. Primary surgery or revision, whichever your anatomy calls for.

02

The year after

Nutrition, supplementation and follow-up while the weight comes off — in the practice that operated, not somewhere else. Dietitian support, bariatric vitamins, lymphatic massage.

03

Contouring

What the scale cannot fix: the skin left behind. Planned from the first consultation and performed once your weight has held steady, by the surgeon who operated.

Common questions

Before you book

Is weight-loss surgery covered by insurance?

Most bariatric procedures are covered once the medical criteria are met, and the practice verifies your benefits before anything is scheduled. Cosmetic procedures are self-pay, with financing available.

Can one surgeon do both the weight loss and the body contouring?

That is the reason the practice offers both. Contouring is discussed at the first consultation and performed once your weight has been stable, usually twelve to eighteen months after the operation.

What if I have already had bariatric surgery elsewhere?

Revision is a substantial part of the practice — sleeve to bypass, bypass revision, and lap-band removal or conversion. Dr. Bonnor reviews the original operation before recommending anything.

I am not a candidate for surgery. What else is there?

A medically supervised GLP-1 programme, run in the practice with the same nutrition support and follow-up that surgical patients receive.

Next step

Begin with a conversation

No obligation. A consultation is a discussion about whether a procedure suits you at all.
